Review
Ever since The Witch of Painted Sorrows, I have been a follower of M J Rose’s works. True I have not read her works before the Daughters of La Lune series, but I do intend to return to them when I can. Tiffany Blues is another great and explosive work by M.J. Rose, the cover of the book is beautiful and attractive as usual.
Our main character: Jenny Bell is like an onion, and I did not say that. She is a chiaroscuro artist, painting in black and white, the way she sees life. Her life is not perfect, but it is okay. From the start of the book, it is clear that Jenny is a girl that you want to protect, but doing so might earn you a slap on the face instead.
About Jenny… our heroine
She is strong, or appears so, but weak at the same time. Her pride maybe her downfall, if not for her nosy good friend Minx. Minx might have her heart in the right place, but she does not know empathy if it walked up to her to shake her hands. Set in a time where speakeasies are common, and when Louis Comfort Tiffany was still alive. I am in love with Tiffany Blues.
First of all, the historical figure Louis Comfort Tiffany and his infamous Laurelton Hall was featured. Then it was the mystery of Jenny’s past, the one she tries to bury. All Jenny wants, is to excel at her drawing and move on with life. But something from her past is coming back, and it has a message. M. J. Rose has always done the beauty side of writing well, but this time, she has outdone herself in the mystery department as well. Never before a book about art history and Tiffany windows pale in comparison to Jenny’s past.
Things to Look Out For
If you are a fan of art, be sure to pay attention to the details of Laurelton Hall. But if the mystery is what tickles your fancy, then pay attention to the details Jenny is telling you. Either way, there is something here for everyone. The ending though, is heart- warming with a dash of anticipation. As Jenny journeys towards accepting her past and future, would she also find the happiness that she yearns for, but rejects so?
