It does look magical, does it not? The box is a beautiful shimmery black, and the tube looks pretty mysterious. And look! It comes with an applicator to make it easy for you to smear on this magically solution on your face. Do you know why I have not been using peel off masks?

It’s bad when you reach a certain age… like when your skin does not snap back to its normal place after you pull it. Remember those old wives tale about your face staying permanently one way if you make a face? That becomes a reality when you pull your skin too often. Hence I only get rinse off, leave on or sheet masks, because my skin’s elasticity is not that great…

What’s the Deal?

I am not joking about how this DB Magic Metal Mask threatens to give me more wrinkles while removing impurities from my sad face. The redness is when I rip off the mask forcefully, this is my first try, and I am seriously not happy. I was trying to slowly (very gently) roll off the mask to minimize any of my skin stretching too much. Because ugh, the last thing I want is my skin not snapping back into place like when I was a teen.

I have not been a teenager for a long time now =(  and I am not keen at all for wrinkles. I know I will eventually get them, but I will do what I can to delay the inevitable.

Applying this mask is very easy: just smear on clean face, avoiding thinnest orbital skin area, and let dry for 20 minutes. Let the shimmer mask dry to the touch before attempting removal.

Reality

This mask is for teenagers with overabundance of skin elasticity, oily skin, and people who can withstand loads of pain. Because ripping this black layer of dried mask can be painful. Yes, I have hair stuck on parts of it. I have combination skin, so my T- zones are happy, but the rest of my face…

My second gripe: because I exfoliate regularly with my Cure exfoliate, there is not much the mask takes off, except my skin. I don’t have those satisfying bumps of oil sebum sticking out of the mask. Those pesky white heads and blackheads are too stubborn for this mask, and all I get is angry skin and smug heads after 20 minutes. It does not hydrate or detoxify; I know because my skin was so dry afterwards.

DB Magic Metal Mask Verdict

It is not something that I will willingly pay for, and since I did not pay for it, I do not owe it any allegiance. So far I have been letting it dry a little before rinsing it off with warm water. I do not bother pulling/ peeling it off now. It is just so wrinkle- inducing, I wonder why I still use it. Yes, suitable for teenagers because of overactive sebum, and they have more leeway when it comes to peel off masks.

Once you hit 20, better stay away from it.
